A New Year, a Big Day and an odd odour

It's been an excellent weekend overall! I just can't believe it's Monday so soon! Friday night I had a lovely dinner at Mr Wolf with Nomes, Nick and Caroline consisting of some delicious pizzas. I sense it would be an expensive dining experience if I brought Gene there though... although it would actually allow me to finish the fabulously rich chocolate mousse... Hmmm...

I arrived home to two very tired and hungry pugs who were happy to see me... or at least their dinner bowls full, before spending the rest of my evening working on my crochet dress.

Saturday morning saw me unpicking the previous evening's crochet work because TV is less good for my counting and instruction following capabilities when tired... Apparently I have limits.. pfft!

Being Chinese New Year my folks wanted to ensure that I didn't miss out on seeing them even though they are in Singapore so they headed to Wisma Atria and stood under the web cam and called to say hi which was really sweet. The evening was spent with the Nic(k)s deciphering our Chinese/Western zodiacs and it was hilarious! On occassions crazily accurate and other times just crazy. It was good fun.

My very first Big Day Out was much fun if a little warm and muggy. The V Invigorate Tent was a real winner for me with the misting spray and bubble machine providing entertainment for not just the patrons but the security staff too. The Silent Disco was awesome! A definite favourite of the day with Gene & I dancing like maniacs to songs that were being broadcast through headphones to all on the dance floor. The Lord Mayor John So seemed most amused at the sight although I don't think he joined the dancers.

So a little tired and a little sunburnt I jumped into the car today to head into town for work to discover that school holidays have just come to a close. Despite having left the house 15 minutes early I ended up 15 minutes late... and $21 poorer for the parking fee. Not happy.

It was a slow day in the office. Mainly waiting for people to get back to me. Tomorrow's looking better with lots of paperwork to process. I love my paperwork!

The most interesting thing that happened today was the discovery of a dead mouse under my boss' hi-vis vest... Good reason not to leave stuff on the floor of our current office really. :)

Last minute evening

Yay for definite tentative plans! I'm definitely tenatatively going to dinner with Nomes now and it'll be a wonderful way to start the weekend. It's just a matter of getting out of work early enough to get there...

Not much to report other than that. Spent the day chasing paperwork (not literally in most cases) and now I'm home madly crocheting a bag that I've been working on for the last week or two and have suddenly decided would be a great gift for my Grandma in Singapore... the only catch being it has to be finished tonight so Mum & Dad can take it over to her. Wish there was someone to help organise me sometimes :)

It's the little things

I am grateful for small pleasures like cool changes in weather... catching Gene for a couple of minutes as he was leaving the house and I was just getting home from work... lactose free chocolate flavoured milk (yes I'm still excited about it)... and left over dinner that takes a mere three, no four, button presses to be ready to eat.

Today passed quickly and slowly at the same time. It was one of those I've-been-doing-things-all-day-but-don't-feel-like-I've-done-much kind of days. Possibly because it was mainly filled with much paperwork. Paperwork tracking other paperwork really. Gotta love the papertrails.

Currently I have the back door, bathroom and bedroom windows all open as wide as possible in an attempt to cool our house down. Nomes, if you felt like a roasting turkey over the weekend then you would have been right at home in our oven of a house! Let's just say the insulation isn't so good in our house so it's cool for a few days of heat but after that it just keeps getting hotter. So bring on that cool breeze and hopefully we can bring the temperature down enough that the 40 degree Thursday that's being predicted won't be so bad!

I'm typing between mouthfuls of a delicious cabonara (cream free for both Gene & my dining pleasure) that he made the other night. While enjoying my latest mouthful I realised that I won't actually be at home on Thursday (aside from the whole being at work for most of the day with the dying air conditioning) I'll actually be at my parents house. That's right, the house sitting time of year is coming in just one day. As much as the thought of the much longer commute is causing me small amounts of anxiety, I'm vaguely looking forward to it as some peace and quiet. Zeus and Clio (Mum's much adored pugs) have settled down greatly and are pretty self sufficient now they have a dog door. My folks have someone else on plant nourishment duty so that this time I don't have to worry about killing any plants. Not that I did last time... or at least not that I know of... hmmm...

Chinese New Year's Eve is this Saturday so Gene's heading back to Geelong. Actually he's heading back on Thursday to help his folks move house... so Nomes this is a good time to catch up... maybe Friday? As with everyone and planning at this stage in the lead up to the show I'll have to confirm later as I may be working late and may just want to curl up in a ball and fall asleep. It's a bit of a struggle staying awake past 22:00 at the moment.

Speaking of staying awake I have many more things to do before I turn into a pumpkin so in the immortal lyrics of Big Bad Voodoo Daddy...

So long. Farewell. Good night!

Waiting for dinner...

Today was a little warm really... by a little I mean very! I'm somewhat dreading the weekend to be honest. I don't really cope well with warm weather but I'm very much looking forward to the showers/storms that are possibly going to hit. :)

In response to Naomi's comments I'd love to catch up with you guys some time. I think I have a day off in that period... well I'm hoping I do anyway! It'll be pretty busy but I'll be sure to do a last minute call around if I'm not curled up in bed... either that or I have a traditional slumber party where we all sleep in the same room. We'll work it out I'm sure!

Currently I am armed with a "tetra pak" of lactose free chocolate flavoured milk and am browsing the holiday pages of various travel sites... I desperately want to go on a holiday to somewhere. Anywhere. Sadly this will mean I do need to look at our budget a bit harder. I'd love to surprise Gene with a holiday some time... Stupid bad saving habits!

Tonight's dinner will be a late one at the Thai restaurant across the road from our house. Good food, but it can be a little hit and miss as to what you receive for your meal/order.

I'm really quite tired and could fall asleep right now but I'm thinking it's time to start building up stamina for the longer days that are ahead.

All in good time I guess!

Miss you all and look forward to spending more time with all my wonderful friends.

Love
S

PS. You're pretty safe so far Naomi, I don't think Gene knows this site at present!

I want candy

Wow, I am so ready to fall asleep right now but having read Naomi's post I'm thinking I should at least post once this week if only to keep up the reputation somewhat!

Today I had the interesting experience of getting a discount from a taxi. I think it had more to do with his lack of small change but I like to think it had something to do with our rather animated conversation about everything from Greek weddings to steel cap boots. :)

Lately I've been a little stiff which is causing some rather irritating muscle tension. As you may have guessed there hasn't really been much massaging in my life yet but I assure you it's on the list of things to get to! For now I simply remain disappointed with the way the brand new panadol pack I bought seems to consist of broken crumbly panadol that doesn't seem to work as rapidly as it says.

As always work is excellent and is beginning to get a little busier (surprise surprise). I got to play with a binding machine today which was fun. Felt a bit like I was doing bench presses for an hour and a half but it felt good to be doing something hands on.

"I want candy"... hmm I think its time to relax on the couch with Gene and watch a lingerie parade...

Random Weekend

This weekend and been very random. Friday night "one or two drinks" after work turned into way too much beer and very little sleep. A good night was had by all I think though. Gene and the two Nic(k)s came to drink with my work mates and we had a great time at the Corner Hotel.

Today was all about getting the sleep that I missed out on last night which was great and then dinner with the two Nic(k)s and Matt.

Tomorrow will be about shopping a little so there's food to eat during the week and then having dinner with Lisa (yay!). Gene doesn't know about that yet... he was at a BBQ today playing downball and was set to return by nightfall (we're getting his watch fixed). However as it's nearly midnight, I'm guessing that tomorrow's 8am start will be a little bit painful! Hehehe... glad it's not me :)

On that note I think it's time for bed. Seems to be a common end to my posts lately... I should sleep more.

Procrastination Post

Wow, I have to look into this myotherapy thing. I have no idea what it is... what I do know at the moment is if I go to a registered massage therapist I can claim it on my health insurance. Myotherapy isn't covered but if it's not too expensive...

Nomes does have a point I have been blogging fairly regularly lately but I think that's largely to do with the fact that I can't really be bothered doing much else when I get home. It's an easy way to unwind before bed.

Work's still pleasantly busy but I'm assured this is the calm before the storm.

The ride to work has been far more pleasant in this cooler weather but with nothing but taking out the rubbish, a bathroom to clean and dinner to cook I must admit it took me a little longer to get home than usual.

I'm feeling a little less sore today. One of my lovely work mates gave me a quick massage. Definitely going to book in for one now after pay day.

Okay. Time to stop avoiding the cleaning.

I

It's a little strange having gotten up half an hour later this morning, come home a good hour later than yesterday and being tired but less tired than I was this morning. It makes about as much sense to me as that sentence does when you read it!

I piked on the bike riding today as it was raining when I was leaving for work. As a result I was a little late as the tram was packed and not going anywhere in a hurry.

I also picked up my official uniform today which was kinda cool. I'm fairly sure the "all-weather" jacket will come in handy the most. The hat is a little too big but everything else fits fine. They even had people there to alter your pants for you (I lost 7.5cm from the hems of mine). It was a pretty ship-shape little place really.

Tonight I'm home alone as Gene's working night shift. I've really been enjoying coming home to him over the last few nights. That might sound strange considering we've lived together for two years, but it's been good to actually get to have dinner with him and share the relaxing and unwinding after a busy day at work with him. It's only tonight and tomorrow night though. I get to have dinner with him on Friday night again. :)

I'm having dinner now - left over pasta with a deliciously garlicy sauce - and I'm starting to feel more tired as I eat. It's a bit weird.

Right now a spa would be perfect but sadly that's not an option. Maybe that's something I should look into for next week some time? I'd actually like to go and organise for a full massage some time soon to try and get some of the tension out of my back, shoulders and neck. I've never had it done and I think it'd be wonderful.

Well I'm thinking it's time to crawl into bed really... almost. Might read a bit first.

Good

Gene's picking up a couple of large pizzas to sait his pizza cravings. He's blaming the garlic that we fried and popped in oil to make garlic oil last night. Well more accurately he's blaming the rather fragrant and lingering aroma of the garlic that permeates our house... Hope our neighbours like garlic!

Work is good still. I don't think that's going to change really... it can only get busier! Busy is good!

I've started to ride to work now. Saturday was the trial run and today was the follow up... now as long as the weather holds up tomorrow morning (I'm expecting showers) I'll ride tomorrow. I get to pick up my "uniform" on Wednesday which has a rain jacket so I'll definitely ride in the rain if that fits. It's actually really good that it takes me less time to ride to work than it does to take public transport. That's a big incentive to ride. Apparently fitness isn't a good enough reason to kick me into action... just too lazy!

Ooh... pizza's here!

Things are going well

There is very little in this world that is more disconcerting than the feeling that your brain is dribbling out of your ears.

I hate ear drops.

This sentiment is not to say that things aren't going well in life. They're just a little busy and I don't have much time to dedicate to my ear infection. It's just piped up at a most inconvenient time... honestly it should have known better.

It occurs to me that I'm in a bit of a strange mood and should probably stop writing now.
